iOS Extras Calculator
iPhone and iPad Extras
The iOS version of PowerOne offers a number of system integrations and capabilities that are not available elsewhere. This document outlines those unique features.
Synchronization
Synchronization keeps all your devices and the web version up-to-date with the your templates and calculator data. Synchronization is available to premium subscribers.
Automatic
Generally synchronization happens automatically. Changes made in templates and the calculator are automatically sent to the server and to your other devices. Automatic sync occurs when certain settings change, when your profile changes, when you finish editing a template, and when you enter and exit the application.
Manual
Sometimes, however, it is necessary to manually synchronize. To do so, pull down on the template list. This will also reveal the last time a synchronization event occurred.
Data
PowerOne does not synchronize all data across the web and iOS versions. Instead PowerOne selectively synchronizes data that we felt was appropriate to have the same on all devices. Included here is a list of data synchronized:
Templates
- All templates and your template results
- All tags, default tags, and search keywords
- All other data stored along with templates and your template results
- Decimal and inch settings
Calculator
- Memory
- History
- Input mode
- Trigonometric mode
- Custom keyboard configurations
Profile
- Number format
- Date format
- Unit system
- Currency symbol
- Language
Split View & Slide Over Support
On iPad, PowerOne fully supports Split View and Slide Over. Use PowerOne calculator and templates along side other applications.
See this [https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207582 | Apple Support document] for details.
Siri Voice Shortcuts
You can launch both individual templates and the calculator via Siri. Select [icon--app-more | extras] then **Add to Siri** to be prompted for a voice command. Then just say "Hey, Siri" followed by your voice command to launch PowerOne and the desired template or calculator.
3D Touch
Certain iOS devices contain a feature called 3D Touch. If you press on the PowerOne icon certain options appear to more quickly access specific templates and the calculator.
By default, the list includes the calculator and the last three templates used. A special tag is available to designate up to three templates you'd like to have appear in the list. Use the tag **Quick Action** to add a template to the list.
See the Tags section in [https://.../t/help_usingtemplates | Using Templates] for more details.
Physical Keyboard Support
PowerOne contains support for physical keyboards. For instance, in templates you can type numbers and move rows with a physical keyboard and in the calculator you can do complete math without ever taking your hands from the keyboard.
On some devices see a list of options by holding down the command ⌘ key. To activate a command, tap the key or key combination listed below:

Furthermore, both standard and RPN input mode can handle full keyboard commands from a physical keyboard. In standard mode type any expression and select return to calculate. In RPN type a number then return to accept it, then a function and return to perform the math. The function to type matches the same function name used in standard input mode. For instance to calculate antilogarithm, whose button shows log⁻¹, type **alog** then return to perform the math. In addition, **swap** and **drop** are accepted.
Accessibility Features
PowerOne fully supports VoiceOver and Dynamic Type. VoiceOver reads PowerOne prompts and buttons and can be set via the Settings app in the Accessibility section.
Dynamic Type changes the size of text across the application. This can be set via the Settings app then Display & Brightness then Text Size.
Spotlight Search
Templates used are registered with Apple so you can search for the desired template without launching PowerOne. Pull down on the application launcher until a search bar appears then type your desired template or keyword.
URL Schemes
It is possible and often handy to have one iOS application talk to another iOS application. This is accomplished via URL schemes.
PowerOne offers three unique URL schemes for launching the app, any templates, and the calculator:
- powerone://
- powerone://calculator
- powerone://t/calculator
- powerone://t/
The first option opens PowerOne in whatever state the user last left it. The second and third options open the calculator. The final option opens the desired template that is identified by its . The is the portion of the template web address that follows https://power.one/t/ and can be viewed in a desktop web browser or by sharing the template from an iOS device.
