Used to calculate the total kilocalories per day provided by the enteral feeding as well as the kilocalorie per kilogram per day total.
Rows
- Weight: the patient's weight
- kCAL per day: the total kilocalories per day provided by this enteral feeding regimen
- Volume per feeding: the mL volume of each feeding (this is NOT the total daily mL volume)
- Feeding frequency: the frequency of feedings (in hours). Continuous drip feedings would have a value of "1" input for feeding frequency [hrs] and the mL/HOUR rate input for Volume per feeding [mL].
- kCAL per oz of formula: the concentration in kilocalories per ounce of the enteral feeding
- kCAL per day: the total kilocalories per day provided by the formula administered
- kCAL/kg/day: TOTAL kilocalories per kilogram per day supplied by this enteral feeding

Example 1
CB is a 3 kilogram infant who is receiving 60mL of 20 kCal/ounce formula every 3 hours. How many kCAL/kg/day is he receiving? How many KCAL/day is he receiving? Input the following:
- Weight: 3kg
- Feeding frequency: 3 hrs
- Volume per feeding: 60mL
- kCAL per oz of formula: 20
The calculator solves for kCAL per day giving an answer of 320 and for kCAL/kg/day giving an answer of 107.
Example 2
If you want to see how these two values will be changed by increasing to 24 kCal/ounce formula, then input:
- kCAL per oz of formula: 24
and the calculator re-solves for kCAL per day giving an answer of 384 and for kCAL/kg/day giving an answer of 128.
